People with LTC from California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Washington can bring in Texas. In Texas, a transportation license is no longer required if you meet the eligibility requirements. However, if you want to take advantage of the benefits provided by an LTC and legally hide the carry in another state, you will need an LTC if it is a state that has reciprocity with Texas or a unilateral agreement that favors Texas. It's equally important to thoroughly review the laws that apply to guns and firearms in general when you plan to travel and transport, especially in the states you'll be passing through on your way to your intended destination.

For example, in Wisconsin, LTCs issued by Texas are recognized, but Wisconsin LTCs are not recognized by Texas. New Hampshire has permitless transportation, which allows anyone at least 18 years of age to legally carry a firearm on their person without a license or permit. No civilian should fail to observe them and you should always contact the Texas DPS if you have any questions about where it is safe to transport them. Indiana Statute IC 35-47-2-21b provides recognition of valid handgun licenses issued by other states, provided that the holder is not a resident of Indiana and can carry in Indiana.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be allowed to carry a gun in those states as a Texas resident. Still, when it comes specifically to Texas LTC requirements, there are some strong laws worth reviewing. Florida accepts licenses from other states only if that state respects a Florida concealed carry license. Texas is considered a “hybrid state,” which means there are online and in-person certification classes available to purchase a concealed carry license.

Bailey, Director of the Department of Public Safety, proclaimed that people with a valid license to carry a handgun can carry guns in Texas and Arkansas. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department offers a FAQ page about hunter safety education courses that must be completed by any hunter born on September 2, 1971 or later. This possibility is why it is essential to know which states have a signed reciprocity agreement with Texas. The Texas DPS enters into reciprocal agreements with other states and some states only honor all LTCs without an agreement.
